Cookie Notice
Version 2026-07-17-alpha.4
Easy Budget Checker currently uses only required framework/session technologies and a user-requested local appearance preference. No browser analytics, advertising, or marketing cookies are enabled in the alpha release.
What cookies are
Cookies are small pieces of data a website stores through your browser. Similar technologies may keep a live application connection or carry a short-lived security token. This notice uses "cookies" as a practical shorthand for both.
Cookies the service may use
| Purpose | Why it is needed | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Blazor connection and session continuity | Keeps interactive server features connected and associates requests with the active session. | Strictly necessary |
| Antiforgery and security | Helps prevent forged requests and protects service integrity. | Strictly necessary |
| Google or Microsoft Azure authentication | Establishes and maintains a signed-in session when authentication is enabled. | Strictly necessary |
| Guest-to-account handoff | Carries a short-lived random one-time token when you ask to sign in and save guest work. Financial values remain server-side. | Strictly necessary |
| Light or dark appearance override | Remembers the theme you explicitly select in Settings. Choosing System removes the saved override. | Functional local storage |
The exact cookie names and expiration periods may be assigned by ASP.NET Core, Google, or Microsoft Azure and may change with security or platform updates. Authentication cookies are considered necessary because the signed-in service cannot operate without them.
No optional-cookie banner in alpha
A consent banner is not shown because the alpha configuration does not enable optional cookies. Server-side Application Insights may be used for operational monitoring, but browser analytics cookies are not enabled. The local appearance value is stored only after you request an override; it does not identify or track you. The absence of a banner does not mean that required session and security cookies are absent.
If optional cookies are added
Optional analytics, advertising, or marketing cookies will remain blocked until you explicitly accept them. The service will add a cookie-preference control, explain each optional category, and allow you to change your choice later. Rejecting optional cookies will not disable cookies required for security, authentication, or core service operation.
Browser controls
Most browsers let you delete or block cookies and local storage. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent sign-in, saving, antiforgery protection, or interactive features from working. Clearing local storage resets the appearance choice to System. Browser help documentation explains how to manage storage.
